In fact he has to run the program in different ways and on different operative system. A Release Candidate of the program (RC) can't exist without him.
Every beta tester has a specific task, but all them try to identify in the product weak points as fatal errors or bugs. The Alpha Testing and Beta Testing process can keep a lot of time, also months if a program is not well-developed or is very complex. As beta testers try a program before the official release, often they have to sign confidentiality waivers to guarantee the privacy of the software house.
There are always a lot of jobs for a beta tester, they are different according what they have to test, if a program or a videogame.
WHY IS HE IMPORTANT?
As I already said the beta tester is very important. After the beta testing process a software can be released and it's ready-to-use for any kind of person. Software houses can pay a lot of money for a good testing session, because they think that this can generate more satisfaction in customers. In fact they will have a product easy-to-use, with a very good accesibility and without problems
However, to be a beta tester is not as funny as it seems. It's a very hard job and often are required a lot of hours of work. Becoming game tester can be nice for all videogamers, but you need a lot of patience, because you will have to play the game over and over again.
This can be the first step to break into the gaming industry and become a game leader.
