With so many different and exciting features constantly being added to the Mafia Wars Facebook game, it is not surprising that the number of accounts have gone up to 25.9 million. The popularity of this game is that while it has a low learning curve, it requires a very smart brain and someone who utilizes diligent and meticulous tactics to truly master the game.
One of the most interesting features in the game is that titles are given to players according to how far they have progressed in the game. For each job tier, there are 3 titles which correspond to the tier on which the player has completed. The first title is the name of the job tier itself, while the second and third are "skilled" and "master" respectively. For example if a person is on the job tier 'street thug' then he will get the first title 'street thug' after completing a job. When he completes the next 2 levels of that job tier, he will get the title 'skilled street thug' and then be a 'master street thug'.
Besides showing off to your friends how far you have progressed into the game, there is also another more useful purpose behind achieving these titles. It increases your profile value and since other plays can gauge your strength from your Mafia Wars title, you will most likely be attacked if you have a low title like "street thug". On the other hand if you have a good title like a boss or a master then your rivals will have to think twice before trying to attack you. Hence, your Mafia Wars title can sometimes act as a defense for you.
The reverse is also true. If you want to attack an easy target, simply go after someone with a low level title!
