More than two can Kinect at a time

Got some friends that want to check out Kinect this November but don’t want to make people sit out on the fun? Not to worry, the reports of Microsoft’s motion control sensor only able to track two “active players” has been debunked – sort of.

While speaking at Gamescom, Xbox general manager Kudo Tsunoda said that the sensor’s two player limitation is because of the developer’s discretion. He goes on to point out that Dance Central is currently “incorporating a lot more than two players,” and the two player aspect is more of the developers “trying to customise the experiences around what they think is the best way to play.”

“You can see like sometimes in a split-screen game it’s hard to add more and more players because it’s hard to see what’s going on – and that’s true of any game,” said Tsunoda.
