Disney Interactive Media Group loses 80 staff in next round of job layoffs

It’s been a rough start to the year for the gaming side of Disney. Game cancellations and job cuts have made headlines while the company downsizes to focus on digital games.

Now another 80 staff have been said to suffer from a new wave of job cuts at Disney’s Interactive Media Group. The rumored cuts may not necessarily apply to videogame staff, but co-president Jimmy Pitaro is said to be at the front of them.

Disney themselves have refused to comment on the size of the layoffs although they did confirm that they were actually happening. It’s all part of “a strategic direction for future success in digital media”, apparently.

Maybe if Epic Mickey had been a bigger success we’d be seeing a different Disney right now.
