Zaxxon on Atari 2600 Had Faults, But Was Fun to Play

The arcade game Zaxxon was such a big hit that it had to be ported to the Atari 2600 home video game system back in the early 1980s. The only problem was the Atari version of Zaxxon didn’t look a whole lot like the arcade game. But don’t worry. Once you master the Atari controls, Zaxxon at home was still fun.

Arcade enthusiasts were blown away in 1982 when the game Zaxxon was released. Zaxxon was the first arcade game to feature isometric projection, which is basically a fancy way of saying the game appeared to be three-dimensional.

No, the game’s graphics didn’t pop out from the screen at you, but they did appear in three dimensions. Before Zaxxon, video games appeared flat, in only two dimensions.
