Now, I’m not one of the millions of players worldwide that play online (thank you lousy internet connection) but if you are, you’ll be interested to know that Rift, a new fantasy MMORPG from Trion Worlds, will launch on March 1 in North America and March 4 in Europe. Starting today, you can pre-order the game digitally or in select retail outlets as well, which gives you a choice of 1 out of 3 exclusive in-game pets, and grants access to play in all remaining closed-beta events as well as a chance to start playing early on February 24. You also get a special Founder’s Subscription pricing plan if you pre-order before March 15.
Rift promises all of the usual MMO fare, as well as throwing a lot of spontaneous events into the mix to keep things interesting. Oh, and it looks pretty good too. Mysterious rifts are tearing the world of Telara apart, opening up gateways for the land to be invaded by all manners of mean beasties. Two factions called the Guardian and the Defiant each find their own ways of dealing with the problem, while also dealing with each other. Time to pick a race, pick a side, and save the world.
