Microsoft CEO: Kinect for PC, eventually

With Microsoft’s controller-free motion-sensor Kinect making its way through more than the predicted 5 million homes worldwide, it was only a matter of time before someone took a deep breath and asked the following question: “Hey, will Kinect do Windows too?” And, it was only a matter of time before a Microsoft representative, in this case the company’s very own CEO Steve Ballmer, answered that question.

“We’ll support that in a formal way in the right time, and when we have an announcement to make, we’ll make it.”

With the expanded possibilities offered by a PC, as compared to the Xbox 360, or any console for that matter, it’d be surprising for Microsoft not to have Windows formally support Kinect, especially considering what has been done with the tech already by using open-source code, like the flying robot that guides itself or the actual controlling of Windows 7 in a very Minority Report-fashion.
