Atari promotes new CEO

Jim Wilson is the new CEO of Atari.

Just who is that, you ask? Wilson was previously the CEO of US subsidiary Atari Inc, getting a promotion to deputy CEO and chairman of the board of the parent company in October last year. In just two months at his new position he’s been promoted to CEO, taking over from Jeff Lapin, who has left the company for unknown reasons.

What does this mean for a publisher that’s had little impact in recent years? According to chairman Frank Dangeard: “At the end of Jeff’s mandates, Atari is better positioned as we enter the next strategic phase of our plan.”

Let’s hope the next phase of that plan shows us some more exciting games from the company’s new digital focus.
