Microsoft have a simple explanation for lack of 360 faceplates

Wondering why you can’t equip your new slim 360 with a shiny faceplate, or find any for your older model? “Nobody bought it”; that’s your answer, or Microsoft marketing director Albert Penello’s at least.

He explained to Official Xbox Magazine: “We don’t ever create an accessory with the intent of having it fail. The idea wasn’t bad … people used to put faceplates on their cell phones. Rewind five years, faceplates were what everybody wanted to do.” Without sales, naturally they “killed that one pretty quickly.”

Hardly the biggest blow Microsoft’s ever been dealt. Guess I’ll uncross my fingers for a Deadly Premonition plate.
