Ubisoft’s announced and released some free DLC for its latest today. Those heading for a round of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood today, on either 360 or PS3, will find Animus Project Update 1.0 waiting. The free content includes a new gamemode and a new map for the game’s multiplayer component.

As Ubisoft explains, the new mode, Advanced Alliance, takes the original Alliance Mode and ups the target identification and engagement difficulty for more challenging matches. “With three teams of two players each, Advanced Alliance is a tougher test for players and rewards teams that use stealth techniques to hunt their targets.”

The new map is called Mont Saint-Michel. Catch it and the new mode in action in the video above.

A second update, Animus Project Update 2.0, will be available in January. It’ll also be free and includes another new map (Pienza) and gamemode (Chest Capture), which has two teams of three either defending or capturing chests. No exact dates for this one yet.
