Halo: Reach crowdsources the muting process

We’ve all got our pet peeves while gaming. Some of us hate the glare of the sun on our televisions. Some hate it when the phone rings in the middle of an epic session. Some of us are lucky enough to have girlfriends who nag and complain whenever we pick up a controller. Me? My peeve is hearing 12 year olds scream racial epithets into my earpiece. However, it appears that Halo: Reach has a system to ease my woes.

According to Bungie’s Tyson Green, the game will take note of players who are often muted by others. The system “notices, warns, and eventually defaults players to being muted when they enter games, if they are muted by enough people over a period of time.” Now if only Bungie could implant a chip in my girlfriend.
